Defining Point-to-Point Links
Bydefault,theadministrativepoint‐to‐pointstatusissettoautoonallspanningtreeports,
allowingtheMatrixDFESeriesorN‐SAfirmwaretodetermineeachport’spoint‐to‐pointstatus.
Inmostcases,thissettingwillnotneedtobechangedandwillprovideoptimalRSTP
functionality.
Youcan,however,usethefollowingcommandstoreviewand,ifnecessary,change
thepoint‐to‐pointstatusofaspanningtreelink.
Reviewanddefinethepoint‐to‐pointstatusofanRSTPlinkasfollows:
1. Displaythepoint‐to‐pointoperatingstatusofaLANsegmentattachedtoa
port:
show spantree operpoint [port port-string]
Astatusof“true”indicatestheLANsegmentisoperatingasapoint‐to‐pointlink.
Astatusof“false”indicatesitisnot.
Ifport‐stringisnotspecified,point‐to‐pointoperatingstatuswillbedisplayedforallspanning
treeports.
2. Displaythepoint‐to‐pointadministrativestatusof
aLANsegmenta ttachedtoaport:
show spantree adminpoint [port port-string]
Astatusof“true”indicatestheportisadministrativelysettobeconsideredpoint‐to‐point.
Astatusof“false”indicatestheportisadministrativelysettobeconsiderednonpoint‐to‐
point.
Astatusof“auto”(thedefaultsetting)indicatesthatthefirmwareisallowedtodeterminethe
port’spoint‐to
‐pointstatus.
Ifport‐stringisnotspecified,point‐to‐pointadministrativestatuswillbedisplayedforall
spanningtreeports.
3. Ifnecessary,changethepoint‐to‐pointadministrativestatusofaLANsegmentattachedtoa
port:
set spantree adminpoint port-string auto | true
Defining Edge Port Status
Bydefault,edgeportstatusisenabledonallports,indicatingthataportisontheedgeofa
bridgedLAN.Automaticedgeportdetectionisalsoenabledbydefaultonthedevice.Youcanuse
thefollowingcommandstoreviewand,ifnecessary,changetheedgeportdetectionstatus
onthe
deviceandtheedgeportstatusofspanningtreeports.
Reviewanddefineedgeportstatusasfollows:
1. Displaythestatusofedgeportdetection:
show spantree autoedge
2. Ifnecessary,re‐enableedgeportdetection:
set spantree autoedge enable
3. Displaytheedgeportoperatingstatusofoneormoreport(s):
show spantree operedge [port port-string]
Astatusof“true”indicatestheportisoperatingasanedgeport.
Astatusof“false”indicatesitisnot.
Ifport‐stringisnotspecified,edgeportstatuswillbedisplayedforallspanningtreeports.
